Description
There are few French boxing prints as the sport was virtually unknown in France and those published show English subjects. This lithograph appears to record a sparring exhibition by Mendoza and Belasco at the Fives Court, probably in early 1820 at the end of their exhibition tour that started in the summer of the previous year.
