This extensive and fully illustrated catalogue is published to accompany the exhibition
Lionel Edwards (1878-1966): Seen from the Saddle

This is the first large exhibition of the artist’s work since 1986 and examines all aspects of his oeuvre from hunting and racing pictures to illustration work and four important military commissions. Many of these pictures have not been exhibited in public before and provide new insights into his life and career

It includes four essays, which explore different aspects of Edwards’ artistic and personal life. These include his importance in the history of sporting art; a personal memoir by one of his grandsons’ his relationship with Peter Biegel, one time student and long time friend; and a touching tribute by Oliver Swann of the Tryon Gallery, who represented Edwards towards the end of his career.
