Description
Edward Turnour 6th Earl of Winterton was Master of the Chiddingford Hunt from 1915-1922. The painting was presented to Lord Wiinteron by the Chiddingford Hunt in November 1923 in appreciation of his 7 years service of MFM which he relinquished in the previous year when he became Under Secretary for India. He was MP for Horsham and Worthing, and then West Sussex from 1904-1951. The painting is referenced in Alan Houghton Brodrick Near to Greatness: A Life of the Sixth Earl Winterton (Hutchinson 1965).
"In the White Room of the old wing (in Wintertons home, Shillinglee) there hung a picture of Eddie in hunting pink mounted. It is a good example of Munnings glossy manner."
